What hint types does the word search maker support?
Four modes are available. Image clues show a picture beneath the grid - students recall the word and find it. Classic text lists the words directly. Alternate text hints let you type a definition, translation, or gap-fill sentence as the clue instead of the word itself - students must think of the word before they can find it. And no hints produces a clean puzzle with a separate answer key.
What grid sizes are available?
Three sizes: Small (12×12) works well for shorter word lists or younger learners. Medium (15×18) is the standard all-round choice. Large (15×25) fits bigger vocabulary sets or longer compound phrases. If a puzzle fails to generate, switching to a larger grid usually fixes it.
Can I use compound words and multi-word phrases?
Yes - spaces are fully supported. Phrases like FRENCH FRIES, TRICK OR TREAT, or SCHOOL GROUNDS appear in the grid exactly as typed. Most word search generators strip spaces; this one treats the whole phrase as a single entry. Particularly useful for ESL and EFL teachers working with multi-word vocabulary.
