Teaching tips for Easter

Keep it about spring

This set uses eggs, bunnies, chicks and flowers rather than religious images, so it fits most classrooms. Teachers who want religious vocabulary can add it from the full image set.

Use the action words

Hiding, dyeing and decorating eggs are in the set. They're perfect for -ing verbs and for sequencing: first, then, next, finally.

Add prepositions

An egg hunt is made for in, on, under, behind and next to. Hide paper eggs around the room and have students say where they found each one.

Count and color

For young learners, eggs are great for counting and colors: "I have three blue eggs." It's simple practice that feels like a game.

Easter lesson and party ideas

Classroom egg hunt

Hide paper eggs with vocabulary words on them. Students find an egg, read the word, and say where it was: "It was under the chair."

Bunny Land

MES English has a printable Easter board game where students draw cards and move around the board to get the Easter Bunny home in time for Easter.

Easter reader

"Where Do Easter Eggs Come From?" is a free 8-page reader on MES English, with a coloring version. Read it together, then retell the story with the flashcards.

An Easter week

Flashcards and the vocabulary sheet on day 1, word search on day 2, the Easter reader on day 3, then an egg hunt or Bunny Land to finish.
